I feel much better, and thank you for all your concern. I must have eaten some ruotsalainen kala maybe or Äiti did not give me the cleanest Finnish water. But I was well enough to take on Tuomo-veli and help Äiti sleep. She had drunk too much pukey coffee and did not relax - nothing to do with me biting her hand or toes all night because I wanted to be within paw's reach of her.

Voi, I have tummy ache and do not feel so good. Äiti has given me lots of cuddles after a bad and stinky visit to the litter tray. She left us alone this evening and poor Harris-veli was locked out on the balcony. He is very spooked. And now Tuomo-veli wants to play with me which is not ideal for a pikku kissa with a bubbly stomach. Life is hard for us.

Äiti managed to get up so she did not waste the morning snoring, and gave us cuddles and attention. Harris-veli slipped into her bed instead! It was not quite so hot so I played a little more too. However, perheni were still very lazy and Tuomo-veli and I have not had a good wrestling match for a couple of days. He has a new bed - he says it is his because he is always in it, which is not fair as he should share. But it is not easy getting him to do so.

What lovely hot weather. I have been out letting the sun tan my whiskers and perheni has been asleep for most of the day (including Äiti). However this picture is misleading - I do not have a 'hangover' and am not a little catnip junkie kissa! I strongly deny this - it is Aila-sisko who has a hint of an addiction, if any of us do, I just like to make sure the plants are doing ok and sniff any new toys that appear thoroughly. It is very unking that Äiti takes this photo when I am alseep and dreaming of fluffy flying giant pink mousies.....

Again we have been roasting in the clear, bright Finnish sunshine and not wanting to do very much. Äiti put me on mosquito killing duty but it was too tempting just to keep cool. As usual she had her camera with her which was not very funny.
Also, not very funny, it was V-day for perheni. Äiti kept this secret but it was time for vaccinations. Everyone was very good and said they did not feel the needle, but I saw Stran-veli and Tuomo-veli being bribed with treats. Harris-veli was the most hissy I have ever heard him and ystävämme eläinlääkäri said he was a wild English cat which is very funny as Harris loves belly tickles when he does relax, and is just very scared.
Lewis-veli has become very brave recently and he is keen to visit the garden, but Äiti thinks he is too scared to dash out. Well, she hopes that is the case. Here he has managed to climb higher than any of us - we were all very jealous.
Tuomo-veli had a shock when ystävämme eläinlääkärisaid his teeth showed he is ten years old! He is an old man cat. But Stran-veli is also this old so I shall not be rude. And Tuomo-veli is very playful, and strong. He sits on me when he pins me down and I have to use all the slidiness of my long fur to wriggle out. I wonder what his life was like then, and if he did have another family once ? He does not say - hän on suomalainen mies.

Life is very tiring at the moment because we have out wonderful Finnish summer and it is beautifully hot. With my long fur, it is easy for me to overheat so I am not chasing many mice at the moment, and am sleeping a great deal. I even had to be woken up for my tea yesterday. I did manage some playtime with Tuomo-veli - he seems to jump on me every time I walk across 'his room'. he is learning to play, I suppose, but he is very strong and I have to be very slippery to get away from his massive body presses.

I spent a very pleasant afternoon surveying my kingdom Here I am sat on the catnip crop. Äiti thinks now that it will not grow as it got squashed. Such a shame as it was beginning to smell nice.....And here I am checking on Tessie-kilpikonna who is new to the Finnish sunshine. She has been eating voikukka which are not buttercups but dandelions.
Stran-veli was also outside but he went exploring and when Äiti tried to get him back into the garden he panicked and escaped from his harness (which was very impressive). Äiti was so upset and I got worried too as I life without Stran-veli would be unthinkable. Anyway he explored a few gardens and kept just out of reach of Äiti for ten minutes, then he took pity on her and let her pick him up for a huge cuddle and pile of treats. He said she should not worry as he can look after himself, but Äiti does not understand that. She is not going to let him out on the harness and long lead again!
As it was so hot, Äiti got out a little tray of water for me and I had a lovely play. I wonder if I can have an even bigger paddling pool ?

Oh what a shame, my little game is over. Someone has told Äiti that her Finnish is wrong on this blog. This often happens and she is used to it, and I cannot correct every silly little mistake of hers - and this one was quite nice. We are not, after all, a religious little community, even though here I am blessing Veli Tuomo with my Paw of Mercy.
And here Veli Tuomo is licking my venerable feet.
I now have to stop being pappi Punapippuri and tell Äiti that it's Tuomo-veli and Stran-veli. I suppose she cannot help it, being a foreigner, and at least she is trying a little bit to learn suomea. But not enough because I think there are many more things she could find for us if she knew more.
Lewis-veli has been having a hard time too. He is enjoying spending the hours of the 'night' on the balcony. But we also have a very noisy kuovi in the area, and in the last day or so he has been flying around, standing on roofs and making what Äiti would call in English 'a bloody awful racket'. And at 3am this morning he flew straight towards Lewis-veli who was just sitting on the balcony ledge. He thought he was going to be attacked and ran away. Now I would of course not let this happen - I would tell this kuovi to either start singing nicely in a lovely bubbly song and not fly at cats (especially those who are easily scared), or I would rip his beak off and make a tooth pick out of it. Punapippuri of Muhos Fields will not have this sort of disruption on his patch!

Hauskaa juhannusta kaikille!

Wednesday, 17 June 2009

This week has been less exciting as we are missing our English friends but I decided to make things lively by continuing Veli Tuomo's ninja training. We have had many play fights and I must confess he is doing rather well. Of course he has learned from a master so this is only to be expected. But he is now rather hard to move when he belly flops on top of me.
He is also standing up to Sisko Aila which would be okay if she did not whinge so loudly that Äiti always appears to check all is okay.
And of course I am having to make sure Veli Stran gets his exercise and we still have the best playfights ever.
Äiti went to Ruotsi yesterday and came back with a new mouse for me. This one is huge and I have been hunting it most of the night.
It is a most excellent mouse and I can carry it around by the tail and then drop it from a great height. Unfortuantely all our games are indoors at the moment as the weather is not so good but I hope we can have a barbecue soon and that I can kill all the mosquitoes for Äiti.

Sunday, 14 June 2009

What a fun week! We have had presents and lots of playtime. We have also had some really dull, tiring hours of absolute boredom Äiti and our visitors 'went for a drive' which took them 1300km around Finland (with a spell in Norway and trip to Ruotsi which luckily was just to buy poro for me - or I would have been very upset). Anyway we were left home alone for one night so I think that Äiti must amend her itinerary in future.
Here I am showing Täti Carolyn my kingdom. She was very pleased with Finland (North) I think, and I quite liked her and Setä Al so I spent time protecting them from hyttynen.
With one swipe of the paw I can kill thousands. I got bored after a few minutes as there were so many, and maybe it's better to work up your own immunity! Here I am helping this by showing Täti Carolyn just how tender my teeth are.
Anyway, now our visitors are gone so I have to cheer up Äiti as she feels a bit lost. I have been helping with the washing and tidying. And of course just giving lots of cuddles. I have also been getting to know Veli Tuomo better and he is very friendly. He is great fun to wrestle with and we spent many hours this morning spinning around the floor. For some reason Äiti was not so in favour of this as we were.

Monday, 8 June 2009

This is so much fun, having Äiti's friends visit.I have been outside with my subjects for three hours this afternoon. I hunted so many things. And I am getting lots of cuddles and Täti Carolyn bought me many lovely mousies to chase. I am far too busy to blog away but please be certain, loyal readers and fans on the King of all Cats (Northern Finland) I will be full of tales soon. But this is ace!

Saturday, 6 June 2009

Today has been very strange so far. Äiti has baked cakes (and I was not allowed to eat any part of them) and she has got out a loud red machine that sucks up fur. I hid in the sauna but when I came out to fight the nasty thing, the place was really clean. I found stinky Veli Tuomo (who has become quite fun really) washing himself too. And there is a brand new duvet on the bed, with a new cover which was great fun to crawl inside, and a small bed has appeared in the study. Veli Stran has been sitting on it but Äiti says he has to move later as she will sleep in it tonight. I do not know what is going on but she has been very busy and I have not had enough cuddle time. Luckily I had lots of attention in the night as I decided not to sleep and just to check that Äiti was always in her bed, not like the miserable time we had all alone the night before. It will be a long time before I forget such a dreadful event.

Friday, 5 June 2009

We were home alone, ALL NIGHT. I do not like all this. We had to wait from beakfast time yesterday until tea time today for food. Of course we had seven bi bowls of dry food but that does not count. And now Äiti says she is too busy to tickle us until later because she is preparing for very important visitors tomorrow. Veli Harris is already in ecstasy as he loves Täti Carolyn but I am just going to sulk as I am not getting the attention that a nuorikissa needs. These visitors better be nice after all the trouble they are causing me: Äiti has made jäätelöä every day this week and I have not been allowed any of it!

Wednesday, 3 June 2009

Yesterday Äiti went out at 1am and her bed was empty so I could not play toe-biting games. She said sher was going 'bird-watching' which made me think she would hunt some forest delicacies for us. When she did not return at breakfast time we were all starving and upset. We had to wait until a whole four hours past our meal time for her to appear. Tuomo and I were waiting so patiently (the others had just gone to sleep). We were discussing what we would like her to bring us. He wanted metso but I was hoping for lapinpöllö (and especially some babies as they are nice and tender).
And then she came back and all she had was her camera! Not even varpunen. Voi voi! We sadly ate our meagre portions of Latz and dreamt of feathers and tasty woodland morsels. I don't think bird watching is much of a hobby, especially as she went back to bed for three hours.
